Sneak Peek: 2013 Lincoln MKS

If you’re a fan of Lincoln and Facebook, today’s your day: the automaker posted a teaser shot of a new model to the social network today, and it’s predicting the future model. As Lincoln said in the photo’s caption, “now it gets interesting.”

The shot is pretty shadowy, but clearly shows the front hood and quarter panel of a new car, as well as the bottom of its windshield. Seeing as the headlight portion of the car is almost completely blacked out, we wouldn’t be surprised if Lincoln used a bit of Photoshop to keep their model secret and enthusiasts a little bit in the dark.

That would have worked, until we had a good look at some recent spy shots of the upcoming Lincoln MKS that our friends at Automobile Magazine published a few days ago. We’re no Hardy Boys, but we’d hazard a guess that this mystery model, with its creased hood and more prominent character line running down the side, is none other than the new MKS.

We haven’t heard much about if the new MKS will get powertrain changes, but the current model features either a 3.7-liter V-6 rated at 273 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, or a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6 that is good for 355 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Both engines have a six-speed automatic transmission. Inside, expect Lincoln’s newly upgraded MyLincoln Touch system to make an appearance as well.
