New Car: 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage

Mitsubishi will showcase two new models at this month’s Tokyo motor show, including a new entry-level city car called Mirage and an updated version of its plug-in hybrid PX-MiEV II concept.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is a small, affordable five-door hatchback aimed at emerging markets. At 3710mm in length, 1665mm wide and 1490mm high, the Mirage is 115mm longer, 70mm wider and 10mm lower than a Kia Picanto.

Power for the Japanese-spec car comes courtesy of a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with an integrated stop-start system. The car will achieve around 85mpg, according to the company. Sales of the Mitsubishi Mirage begin in Thailand in March 2012 and it should also reach Europe by the end of the year.
