New Concept Car: Nissan Pivo 3

Following the Audi Urban Concept and Vauxhall RAK e, Nissan has become the latest manufacturer to show off an all-electric city car with the PIVO 3, which will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month.

It’s the third PIVO concept from Nissan, with the previous cars arriving at the Tokyo show in 2005 and 2007. Unlike those models, which featured outlandish features like a 360-degree rotating cabin, the PIVO 3 is far more conventional.

At just under three metres in length, the PIVO 3 is very compact and is powered by four in-wheel electric motors – although Nissan hasn’t released any further details. A clever AVP (Automated Valet Parking) system features, which allows the car to track down a parking space without driver involvement.

Inside, it features a 1+2 seating layout which sees the driver sitting in the middle and two passengers slightly behind and to either side. Agility is all important in the city and Nissan claims the PIVO 3 has a turning circle of just four metres thanks to a four-wheel steering set-up.For more details click here.
