Ford has announced two new people movers to its expanding line-up. The five-seat Ford Tourneo Connect and seven-seat Ford Grand Tourneo Connect are based on the Transit Connect commercial vehicle.

Ford describes both as offering “outstanding practicality” and says they are aimed at “active families or professional chauffeurs”. Both models feature sliding rear doors and flexible seating configurations.

No specific powertrain information is available, but Ford revealed downsized petrol and diesel engines will be offered. Diesels are expected to form the bulk of sales when it goes on sale in Europe and North America in 2013.

Ford also confirmed the launch of the standard Transit Connect commercial vehicle and the two-tonne Transit.
