Recall Up Date: 2011 - 2012 Nissan Altima

Nissan is recalling model year 2011 and 2012 Nissan Altima sedans and coupes for an issue related to the suspension.

The Problem: Nissan states that the transverse link bolt, which is part of the suspension system, may not have been tightened to the proper specification at the factory. The bolt could eventual loosen and cause noise and vibrations. Drivers may also have a hard time controlling the car, resulting in a crash.

The Fix: The recall starts today. Nissan will replace the transverse link bolt and nut free of charge. Owners can call Nissan with any questions at 1-800-647-7261

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: An estimated 20,000 vehicles manufactured at Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi plant from April 25 to June 10, 2011.
