New Car: 2012 Mercedes C63 AMG Performance Studio

Mercedes-Benz AMG will soon treat the Japanese market to two special-edition cars. The SLS AMG Matt Edition and C63 Performance Studio edition go on sale in Japan this fall, but won’t be sold in the U.S.

The first of the two unique models is a version of the Mercedes C63 AMG sedan called the Performance Studio edition. The car wears unique matte-black paint from the Mercedes Designo line, and special 19-inch wheels painted a matching matte black, with a bold red lip. The seats wear Designo-series red Napa leather. The interior receives an AMG Performance steering wheel, an upgraded Harman/Kardon sound system, special AMG headrests and floor mats, and unique silver door-lock pins.

Also present on the Performance Studio edition are the AMG Performance Package, which bolsters the car’s 6.2-liter V-8 to 481 hp; adds an AMG trunklid spoiler; a gray-painted intake manifold; red-painted brake calipers; and stronger AMG brakes. The car costs ¥15,000,000 (about $189,606) and goes on sale in November.
