The RS5 cabriolet will also feature the all-wheel drive quattro drivetrain and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox from the coupé.
Expect a 0-62mph time of around 4.7sec and a top speed limited to 155mph.
The RS5 cabriolet will not be the last RS5 model Audi will reveal within the next 12 months. Insiders have also confirmed that there will be an RS5 version of the A5 Sportback, which will be primarily targeted at the North American market.
The decision to launch an RS5 Sportback also explains Audi’s decision not to launch a four-door RS4 saloon. The two models are considered to be too closely aligned to justify the development costs.
