Mercedes-Benz AMG will soon treat the Japanese market to two special-edition cars. The SLS AMG Matt Edition and C63 Performance Studio edition go on sale in Japan this fall, but won’t be sold in the U.S.
Also present on the Performance Studio edition are the AMG Performance Package, which bolsters the car’s 6.2-liter V-8 to 481 hp; adds an AMG trunklid spoiler; a gray-painted intake manifold; red-painted brake calipers; and stronger AMG brakes. The car costs ¥15,000,000 (about $189,606) and goes on sale in November.
The Mercedes SLS AMG, meanwhile, receives a special “Matt [sic] Edition” treatment for both coupe and roadster models. The Matt Black Edition was previously available in Japan for the SLS AMG coupe, so now the package will be offered for the roadster version. It wears the same Designo-line matte-black paint as the aforementioned C63 AMG, with blacked-out badges and chrome trim, while the interior uses a combination of red and black Napa leather. The Matt White Edition cars, by contrast, wear Designo-series matte-white paint, while the interior bears a combination of white and black materials. Both versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG gain AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension, an AMG Performance steering wheel, and special AMG ten-spoke wheels. The White Edition treatment is available for both coupe and roadster models.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG special editions go on sale in September from ¥30,000,000 (about $379,415).
