Citroen has posted these teaser pictures on its Facebook page, together with the line "the future of the DS line is already taking shape at Citroen".
It appears to show a development of the C6-based Metropolis concept, first shown at the Shanghai Motor Show in May 2010. And going by the darkly-lit profile shot, the saloon silhouette has been replaced with a shooting-brake body style.
The newcomer is likely to be badged the DS9, and it will sit at the top of Citroen's range, offering an alternative to cars such as the Audi A8 and Mercedes S-Class. But unfortunately there are no plans to bring it to Europe - this will be will be built as part of Citroen’s joint venture with the Changan Automotive Group in Guangdong province, and sold exclusively in China.
The Metropolis concept used a 2.0-litre petrol V6 mated to an electric motor, delivering 460bhp and CO2 emissions of 70g/km, but there's no word on what the production car will get under the bonnet. We'll be able to tell you more when this car is expected to debut at the Beijing Motor Show next month. For more details click here.
