Geneva Show 2012 Highlights: 2013 Fiat 500L

The Fiat 500L - the latest addition to the Fiat 500 range - has received its debut at the Geneva motor show. The 500L - meaning 'Large' - will go on sale in early 2013.

At 4140mm long, 1780mm wide and 1660mm high, the new five-seat 500L is 594mm longer, 153mm wider and 172mm taller than the standard Fiat 500 hatchback. According to Fiat, the 500L offers ‘MPV passenger space combined with the feel of a small SUV on the road.’

From launch, the Fiat 500L will be available with the choice of two petrol engines and one diesel. These include Fiat’s two-cylinder TwinAir and 1.4-litre units and a 1.3 MultiJet II oil-burner.

Like the Fiat 600 Multipla produced between 1956 and 1965, the 500L adopts the Multipla’s 'cab forward' design, which pushes the driver compartment forwards over the front axle to maximise interior space.

The new Fiat 500L will be produced at Fiat’s Serbian plant in Kragujevac.
