Renault has accompanied the launch of its all-new Clio at the Paris motor show with the unveiling of the new Clio estate. The new ‘mini load-lugger' is not destined for sale in the UK, however.

The estate shares the same wheelbase as the hatchback, the extra length coming in the rear overhang, which is extended to 824mm. The overall length of the car is 4262mm.

The load capacity of the car is 430 litres, some 130 litres greater than the hatchback. Renault says the rear seats can also fold flat to create a ‘record maximum load length’, although it has not specified a figure. The boot is flat floored.

Like the hatchback, the five-door estate’s rear door handles are hidden in the C-pillars.

Engines will mirror the hatchback’s, so petrols will include a three-cylinder 0.9-litre with 90bhp and a turbocharged 1.2-litre unit. The diesel choice will be a 1.5-litre with around 90bhp.

Sales of the new Clio estate will begin in selected markets in the first quarter of 2013.
