Paris Show 2012 Highlights: 2013 SEAT Toledo

The Seat Toledo is back as a new compact saloon that’s set to be priced from about £13,500 when it reaches UK showrooms early next year. It has made its public debut at the Paris motor show.

The new Toledo will enter production largely unchanged from the concept of the same name, which appeared at the Geneva motor show in March. It is a sister car to the recently revealed Skoda Rapid.

Seat president James Muir is billing the Toledo as “a great car at a great price”. It is the first Seat to enter production with the design features of the recent IBE, IBL and IBX concepts, including the crisp new front end.

As with the Rapid, the Toledo looks like a saloon in profile but is actually a five-door hatchback. It is 4480mm long and has a lengthy 2602mm wheelbase to maximise cabin space, particularly for passengers in the rear.

In the UK, one diesel and two petrol engines will be offered. The diesel is the familiar 104bhp 1.6 TDI mated to a manual gearbox. This model’s CO2 emissions are rated at 104g/km.

A 1.2 TSI petrol is offered with a choice of 84bhp or 104bhp, both with a manual gearbox. The range-topper is a 120bhp 1.4 TSI, which is available with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox only.
