When we drove the up! a few week ago (you can read that drive here) VW confirmed that an all-electric e-up! would arrive by 2013, but we didn't expect to see it this soon. The car here is a full production version barring a few potential styling changes. It features an 82bhp electric motor producing 110Nm of torque with a 95-mile range.
We spoke to Michael Gartner, technical project manager for the e-up! who told us: "The final production car will be offered only as a five-door to make it more family friendly. There's potential for a more powerful 115bhp version too, but we'll have to wait and see." Gartner also let slip that the price would be around €20,000 (£17,200) when it goes on sale in mid-2013.
