The all-new Mazda6 has been kept under wraps for a while now but we’ve managed to get our first look at the estate version, which is set to debut at the Moscow Motor Show at the end of August.
The estate variant will debut before the saloon and while the camouflage prevents us from getting a good look at the new Mazda6, we’ve been told to expect a car that looks identical to the Takeri concept that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year
The same large ‘shield grille from that concept and the CX-5 production car will feature on the 6, along with swept-back headlights and pumped up wheel arches. The sharp, narrow window line of the Takeri has also been carried over.
The newcomer will become the second model – after the CX-5 – to make use of Mazda’s fuel-saving SKYACTIV technology, which includes everything from the chassis to the engine and gearbox.
Engineers have previously told us to expect CO2 emissions as low as 109g/km for the 2.2-litre diesel model, which would give Mazda a direct competitor to the most efficient car in this class – the BMW 320d ED.
Expect to see the new Mazda 6 estate on sale at the beginning of 2013, with the saloon version revealed later that year. For more details click here.
