Spied Up Date: 2013 BMW M6 Convertible

The official reveal of the next BMW M6 could be just around the corner, as these spy shots show a barely camouflaged convertible model out testing. A big clue that the M6 might be nearing production readiness is the different paint color. The last few M6 mules we’ve seen have all been black. This one, however, sports a gray paint scheme.

Not much has changed since we last saw the M6 convertible. Some of the front bumper’s camo has been shed, revealing a bit more of the car’s front valance. The hood still looks like it does on a lesser 650i, with no power bump to hint at its powerplant – more than likely a version of the new M5’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8. This particular car is right-hand-drive, which could mean it’s a mule for the Japanese- or UK-market version of the M6.

Although these shots don’t really tell us anything new about the M6, the fact that BMW’s making more than just black test mules is probably a good sign. Hopefully, sometime during the coming auto show season, we can see it without all that camo, preferably in Alpine White.
