2012 Chrysler 200 and Town & Country, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Dodge Charger, Grand Caravan, Durango, and Journey models equipped with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 are being recalled for a potential engine seizure.
The Problem: Certain 2012 models equipped with the Pentastar V-6 may experience a connecting rod bearing failure due to debris inside of the engine block. This failure could cause a loss of power from an engine seizer, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Chrysler will notify owners starting next month and replace the engines free of charge. Owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 regarding recall number L33.
Number of Vehicles Affected: 667 3.6-liter V-6-equipped 2012 Chrysler 200 and Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, Durango, Journey, Charger, and Jeep Grand Cherokee models built between August 31 and September 13, 2011.
