New Car: 2011 Mercedes S-Class Grand Edition

Mercedes has unveiled a sportier, AMG-styled version of Mercedes S-class, called the Grand Edition.

This new version of the Stuttgart manufacturer’s best-selling luxury car features an AMG body kit, which includes a more aggressive front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper as well as a chrome exhaust.

The Grand Edition sits on 19-inch alloy wheels and has AMG front brakes and drilled calipers painted in silver.

Four engine choices are available – two petrol and two diesel. The diesel options are a 204bhp four-cylinder Biturbo S 250 CDI and a V6 350 BlueTec, which produces 258bhp and 457lb ft of torque.

The petrol versions are the 306bhp V6 S350 BlueEfficiency with 306bhp and 273lb ft and a 4.6-litre V8. The latter has 430bhp and 516lb ft of torque.

Inside, the Grand Edition has been kitted out with a leather steering wheel, stainless-steel sports pedals and bespoke floor mats, as well as black ash trim.

The car features LED running lights, along with Merc’s Intelligent Light System, which features five self-adjusting headlight modes.

Standard kit also includes the Comand sat-nav system, voice control and speed limit assist. All the cars get a rear parking assist system, except the Biturbo S, on which it is an option.
