Recall Up Date: 2012-2013 Nissan Altima

The Problem: On some Nissan Altima models, a tool used at Nissan’s plant in Canton, Mississippi, to torque certain power steering rack bolts may not have applied the correct amount of torque. Over time, those bolts can come loose and start rattling. If they eventually fall out, the driver may lose the ability to steer the vehicle. Nissan discovered the problem during a routine driving evaluation of a new car.

The Fix: Nissan dealers will check the torque levels of the affected bolts and tighten them if necessary.

Number Of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 8420 2012 Nissan Altima and 5499 2013 Nissan Altima models.
