New Car: 2012 Bentley Mulsanne Diamond Jubilee Edition

Bentley is celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years on the throne with the Mulsanne Diamond Jubilee Edition.

Only 60 will be made – one for each year of Her Majesty’s reign – with each inspired by the Bentley State Limousine presented to the Queen in 2002.

That means bespoke gold stitching on the headrests, veneered tables in the rear with a logo depicting the royal carriage and a set of cushions featuring the same picture.

The limited-edition Mulsanne is finished in the same paintjob as the State Limousine. Bentley calls it Beluga over Claret, and it’s designed to represent the red, white and blue of the Union Jack. The same chrome grille is also fitted. There are a further five paint options, ranging from White Sand to Black Sapphire.

Hand-painted detail lines – including one running the length of the car’s flanks – are unique to the Diamond Jubilee Edition. But the Mulsanne is no different under the skin. That means it’s powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V8 engine producing 505bhp and 1,020Nm of torque.

Prices have yet to be announced, but the car is certain to carry a premium over the £225,000 standard model. For more details click here.
