MG Motor will be unveiling the Icon at the Beijing Motor Show this month; a Juke-rivalling SUV concept thought to hint at a production model for the brand.
These sketches are our first look at the five-door model and they reveal the MGB-inspired design, including the wide-mouth grille and round pontoon-mounted headlights.
Underneath, the Icon is expected to ride on the same chassis as the Golf-rivalling MG5, set to be released in the UK some time during 2014. With that in mind it makes sense to assume the Icon will also use the same engines, including a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.9-litre turbodiesel.
There aren't too many details available concerning the interior but the sketches reveal four individual seats, with the rear units able to fold completely flat into the boot floor.
We were told that the MG Icon is likely to become part of MG's plans for the future, but don't expect to see it on the road until at least 2015. Before then, the firm will release the MG3 supermini and MG5 family hatch in 2013 and 2014 respectively. For more details click here.
