The new Jaguar XKR-S convertible will make its world debut at the Los Angeles motor show, which kicks off next week. The hardcore cabriolet will be joined by the Jaguar C-X16 production concept, which will be shown in North America for the first time.
Like the XKR-S coupe, the new soft-top version is likely to be powered by the same 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine, which produces 542bhp and 502lb ft of torque - 39bhp and 41lb ft of torque more than the standard XKR.
Top speed for the tin-top car is limited to 186mph and 60mph is reached from standing in a mere 4.4sec.
Dynamic changes to the new cabriolet should mirror those of the coupe’s. These include more assertive styling, front and rear aerodynamic enhancements and stiffer spring rates over the standard XKR's. A new aluminium steering knuckle, reprogrammed damper and differential controls, wider tyres and lighter wheels should complete the upgrades.
Prices for the super-cabriolet have not been announced, but the £97,000 coupe XKR-S commands an £18.5k premium over the standard XKR.
At £84.5k for the soft-top XKR, expect the hardcore version to be priced in excess of £100k.
