New Car: 2012 Land Rover Defender XTech

Under the bonnet of the new special is the same 120bhp, 266lb ft 2.2-litre gearbox mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The XTech’s changes are all cosmetic, and are partly in response to the rugged Defender’s increasing popularity with more fashion conscious buyers.

The special is offered in either Orkney Grey or a new colour, Nara Bronze. The colours contrast against the black roof and wheel arches, and the black chequer plates used on the bumper and sills.

Other changes include a new black surround for the headlights, a body-coloured grille, and gloss black lettering for the Land Rover badge at the front. A new Defender decal is also added above the rear LED lights.

New gloss black 16in alloys are also added and wrapped in special MTR off-road tyres.

Inside, there’s a part-leather Ebony interior with contrasting Lunar stitching. Land Rover logos are embossed on the front headrests and special floor mats are also added. The centre switch panel is finished in the same colour as the exterior paint.

Standard kit includes air-con, ABS, traction control, remote central locking and heated seats and windscreen.

The XTech costs from £27,995 and is available with the 90 Hard Top and 110 Utility Wagon bodystyles.
