New Car: 2012 Bentley Flying Spur Linley Helix

Bentley has collaborated with British design company Linley to produce a special-edition Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

Linley, which is best known for furniture and interior design, has applied Santos rosewood veneers to the surfaces of the Bentley where chestnut or walnut would normally be found, namely the fascia, console, waistrail and roof console. Stainless steel Linley treadplates are another feature.

The special-edition Continental Flying Spur features the Linley Helix motif on the waistrails and picnic table. The motif has been applied using a form of decorative veneering called marquetry.

The rear console of the Bentley has been reconfigured to include a Linley cigar humidor. In the boot there’s a Linley branded leather bag with a cashmere blanket and other Linley items.

The car could lead to further Bentley-Linley collaborations. Just ten examples will be produced and all of them are bound for China, which is Bentley’s biggest market for its four-door cars. The price is not known – but the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed weighs in at a cool £150,900.
