New Car: 2012 Mini Cooper Convertible Highgate

The folks at Mini love dressing up their cars, and the Mini Cooper Convertible Highgate package is no different. The limited-run Highgate is named for a pricey London suburb that Mini says has been”developed specially to suit the character of the car.”

On the outside, the Mini Cooper Convertible Highgate wears unique Iced Chocolate Metallic paint, coupled with a brown soft top and special black/brown hood stripes. Seventeen-inch Double Cross alloy wheels are meant to echo the design of the Union Jack flag, the mirror housings are painted body color, and there are small Highgate badges on the car’s front fenders.

Mini dolls up the Highgate’s interior with Dark Truffle leather seats featuring light-blue piping, stainless steel pedals, brushed alloy interior trim pieces, Highgate logos on the door sills and seats, and more Dark Truffle accenting for the floor mats and shift boot.

The limited-run Highgate package launches globally this spring. Adding the trim to a Mini Cooper Convertible will cost $2750, while adding it to a turbocharged Cooper S model costs $2500.
