Toyota has oficially revealed its Yaris hybrid concept at the Geneva motor show.
The concept reflects Toyota’s new styling direction for the Fiesta-rivalling hatch. The design aims to be less cute in its appearance and appeal to a new breed of customer.
The concept also features 18in alloy wheels, a slab-sided rear bumper that incorporates a diffuser, and an integrated rear spoiler. Pure show car elements include a solar-panelled roof to power the air-con, streamlined door handles and door mirrors with built-in cameras.
Toyota will be revealing further technical details about the car in Geneva — but it’s likely to use either a 1.3-litre or 1.5-litre petrol powerplant in conjunction with an electric motor. The production car is due on sale in the second half of 2012.
